Prohibited Items List

ParcelBright works along with major courier networks; each of them has a list of items that cannot be shipped via their network or can only be shipped on a no-compensation basis. The list will differ between networks, but overall the list is the same and we have combined that as below:

Check before you send

Rules can be different when sending UK to UK versus the UK to International. They may also vary depending on the method of transport. If you are unsure about anything please do contact us before sending to prevent any potential delay in your delivery.

Items that cannot be shipped

  • Weapons eg. Firearms, swords and knives
  • Explosives eg. Fireworks, sparklers, munitions (war materials and ammunition)
  • Items containing small amounts of explosive eg. Christmas crackers
  • Flammable solids eg. Matches and firelighters
  • Flammable liquids eg. Alcohol that is more than 24% ABV (Alcohol By Volume)
  • Items containing flammable liquids eg. Perfumes (alcohol), nail varnish remover etc (solvents)
  • Gases eg. Aerosols and camping gas cylinders
  • Corrosive substances eg. Battery acid and drain cleaner
  • Toxic and infectious substances eg. Pesticides, weed killers and poisons
  • Oxidising substances and organic peroxides eg. Hair Bleach
  • Radioactive material eg. Smoke alarms and luminous dials (found on watchesetc.)
  • Lithium batteries, including those in battery operated toys and in laptops
  • Car batteries
  • Fire extinguishers
  • Human remains (except for ashes)
  • Animal parts, skins or furs
  • Ivory or ivory products
  • Bloods
  • Illegal drugs
  • Prescribed medicines
  • Tobacco and tobacco products
  • Pornographic material (to some countries)
  • Leather goods (to some countries)
  • Liquids
  • Adhesives
  • Paints
  • Engines, generators or other mechanical parts that have contained oil unless completely flushed out and dried - couriers need access to the dipstick and if any oil is present the engine will not be collected


Items that can be shipped but will not be compensated for lost / damage

  • Breakable Goods
  • Designer Goods
  • Items that, whether by their nature or otherwise, are difficult to replace
